Eating Disorder Awareness Week (EDAW) is Feb 1 - 7, 2025

Eating Disorders affect people of all genders, sexual orientations, ages, socioeconomic classes, abilities, races, and ethnic backgrounds. Every year, groups from across Canada come together on February 1st to 7th for Eating Disorder Awareness Week (EDAW), a week focusing on raising awareness about eating disorders in Canada and discussing challenges and barriers in accessing care. This year, the theme of Eating Disorders Awareness Week is Embracing Possibilities. This theme focuses on community-driven solutions, innovative care modes and educational opportunities that can help to transform eating disorder care so that everyone can get the support and care that they need.

How can you get involved?

Support Group-a-Thon

Community-based organizations across Canada are offering free or reduced-cost programming to help increase support for underserved communities, as well as create space to discuss topics that are often left out of conversations about eating disorders. Visit the Support Group-A-Thon page on the NEDIC website to view topics and sign up.

Champion Webinars

NEDIC is offering live webinars from various clinicians, researchers, community leaders and those with lived experience to discuss approaches to care, strategies for building support and addressing gaps and ways to get involved. See the Champion Webinars page on the NEDIC website to view topics and register.

Training Opportunities

Being more informed about eating disorders as a healthcare provider or educator is an important step in increasing support and care. During EDAW, there are live workshops being offered, as well as modular learning opportunities that providers can access whenever they are able to. See website for Training Opportunities

Social Media Campaign

NEDIC’s EDAW social media campaign highlights the prevalence and severity of eating disorders in Canada, facts and statistics about the diverse identities of those affected, and information on barriers to accessing treatment and support for eating disorders in Canada. The campaign also highlights various resources that are available across Canada for eating disorder support. Share this information on your social media to get involved.
